Rick Lavinsky Obituary

Rick A. Lavinsky

Sugar Grove: Rick Allan Lavinsky passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his home in Hide A Way Hills. Rick was born to Irving and Ruth Lavinsky in New Rochelle, New York on October 9, 1944.

Rick had a passionate love for his family and of his country. He had developed a deep faith in Christ which sustained him to the end.

He was a running enthusiast all of his life running in many marathons including the Boston and Columbus Marathons. He also was proud to finish many triathlons with a team who all had heart valve replacements, just as he had. He was just ready to celebrate his 30 year anniversary of his heart valve replacement surgery. After many good lawyer years, he became just as passionate about working each day as a handyman with his best friend, Roger Conrad. He was an avid reader and a great dancer as long as he could do his "own" freestyle. He also was very musical, playing his clarinet and singing in the church choir.

Rick's many accomplished attorney years were spent at the following;

Lucas, Prendergast, Albright, Gibson, Brown, Newman working in business and real estate law from 1970-1975

Riley, Ucker, and Lavinsky working on real estate law focusing on real estate development from 1989-1995

Dinsmore and Shohl LLP continuing real estate development. While there also being general counsel to Jefferson Savings Bank and general counsel to The Lake Communities Association from 1995-present.

Rick is survived by his wife, Peggy Lavinsky of Sugar Grove; brother, Michael (Judy) Lavinsky of Boulder, CO; children, Andrew (Oyun) Lavinsky of Houston, TX, Lori (Allyn) Beltran of San Francisco, CA, Sean (Sharlyn) Bowers of Marysville, Christian (Michele) Bowers of Bexley, and Ryan (Kelly) Bowers of Westerville; many grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Irving Lavinsky; and mother, Ruth Lavinsky.

Visitation and viewing will be on Friday from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130. Funeral Services will be private at Emanuel Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120 Chicago, IL 60693, in memory of Rick.

I know we´ve all said it before but Rick was one of a kind. It´s shocking to know he´s been gone for five years. He is gone but never forgotten. Rick was a good man, a very good man!

I think of Rick all the time and its hard to believe Ill never hear from him again. When hed call, he always started with Hey Mooner, how are you. Rick always wanted to hear about me before he would tell me what was going on with him. He was a very thoughtful and caring person who is sorely missed!

Peggy, I read Rick's obituary and he sounds like such an amazing man. Although I had just a brief moment to speak with him, he was so kind and such a help. I am just so sorry about his sudden passing. Just know that through a brief moment he made a difference in my life. I will keep you in thought and prayer in the days ahead.

It is with deep sadness that we heard about the passing of one of the finest attorneys we have ever worked with at Hill Partners. Rick's guidance, friendship and being the voice of reason proved extremely important to the success of our developments, redevelopments and on-going operations of our shopping centers / mixed-use centers. On behalf of the entire Hill Partners' team, our thoughts are with Peggy and the rest of the Lavinsky family during this difficult time. Best regards, Bob Spratt and the entire Hill Partners' team.

Rick was one of a kind! Rest In Peace my friend..

Rick will be greatly missed by all who knew him on our Hill Partners' team. He was by far the best attorney that Hill Partners worked with over the years on a number of our shopping centers / mixed-use centers nationally. He was the voice of reason and we missed working with Rick over the past few years. Our best to Peggy and the rest of the Lavinsky family during this difficult time. Best regards, Bob Spratt

Rick was a great friend, neighbor, attorney and lumberjack! Rick always got excited when trees came down on our lot in Hide-Away Hills and we had the opportunity to use our chain saws and log splitter for a few hours of great conversation! He will be missed!

I worked with Rick at Dinsmore & Shohl and was the head of the real estate group in Cincinnati. During the first few years that Rick was with D & S, I acted as his mentor so that he knew the proper procedures in the firm to get things accomplished. We also worked together on several real estate transactions.Rick was a very fine lawyer but I remember him for his wonderful attitude towards life. He enjoyed people, his family and the practice of law. I'm so sorry he no longer is with us. Tom Sherman

I was so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. He was my personal attorney for many years and also represented our real estate firm. In the early years of his practice I would talk with him on a daily basis. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Please accept my condolences to Rick's family and friends and especially to Peggy. I've known Rick for over 10 years. I especially remember how thoughtful it was that he came to my US Naturalization service back in 2006. He knew how much that meant to me. We've connected throughout the years and saw him and Peggy recently. He was a fine gentleman and will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Rick's family, friends and associates. I came to know Rick in his capacity as counsel for the OLCA and while I did not know him for all that long or all that well for that matter, it took no time at all to see what a special lawyer and person he was and, above all, what a loving husband and father he was.
