GILLESPIE , Edmond Stanley 
 Edmond Stanley Gillespie, 79, died July 3, 2007 from the effects of a stroke. Born May 13, 1928 and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, he served in the Army for two years after high school. He graduated from Auburn University in 1951 with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. From there he went to New Mexico to work at Sandia Corporation, where he met his wife Clara Louise (Rogers) Gillespie who died May 26, 2006. 
 The family migrated to Los Angeles, CA in 1955, where he began working at Lockheed Corporation. During that time, he received his Ph.D. in Applied Electromagnetic Theory at UCLA. In 1965, he joined the faculty of California State University, Northridge teaching for 29 years until his retirement in 1994. A highly respected professor, he served as Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering and taught short courses attended by students from around the world. 
 Professor Gillespie was a member of the engineering honor society Sigma-Psi and was a registered professional engineer in the state of California . He was a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a principal member of the IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society (IEEE AP-S) and a guiding light of the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association (AMTA). He left a legacy of internationally recognized standards on Antennas and Antenna Measurements. 
 Mr. Gillespie devoted the last years of his life taking care of his wife who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. He is survived by his sister Margaret Jo Whitfield and his children, Gail Boatwright, Denis Grady, Stanley Gillespie, Jr., and Frieda Gillespie, his grandchildren, Pamela Isaacs, Craig Boatwright, and Tealeesha Gillespie and great-grandchildren, Jared, Garrett and Tristan Isaacs and Kyle, Jeffrey and Jack Boatwright. 
 A memorial service will be held on August 18th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church, 7304 Jordan Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91303. Reception to follow at the church. 
 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in his name to either , Emerson UU Church, or The Autry National Center, 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, CA 90027.
