Gary Miller Obituary

February 29, 1940 - March 16, 2021 Gary Miller lost his life on March 16, 2021 after a fierce battle with Alzheimer's disease. Gary was born in Los Angeles to Edythe and Abe Miller.  He attended Fairfax High School and the University of Southern California where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1962, he held the NCAA record in the rope climb event as a member of the USC National Championship Gymnastics Team.  He had a career in aerospace technology, retiring from Hughes Aircraft Space and Communications where he designed satellite components and electronics for the Space Shuttle Program earning several patents for his innovative designs. Gary found a new passion in retirement facilitating support groups for Recovery International where he was honored for his dedication and service to people struggling with their mental health. With a great appreciation for the outdoors, he introduced his children to his love for running, skiing and bodysurfing. He is survived and missed dearly by his wife, Barbara, his two children, Amy (Budd) and Aaron (Amy), and his three grandchildren, Sarah, Adria and Tyler, and remembered by all for his bright smile, kind nature and gentle spirit. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
