Hugh Moss Gallagher of Corona del Mar, CA died with peace and dignity at the age of 97. He was the son of Hugh Moss and Lillie B. (Goode) Gallagher Sr. of Bisbee, AZ. He attended the University of Arizona. Hugh married the love of his life Eleanor Serena Bedford (1915 - 2002) and settled in Beverly Hills, CA. He began his oil-drilling career as a mechanical engineer with Camay Drilling Co. in Los Angeles merging into Scope Industries where he became executive vice-president. He and Eleanor lived in Bel Air, Brentwood, Taipei and Singapore where Hugh managed offshore drilling ships in the South China Seas for the Fluor Corp. of Irvine, CA. An outstanding athlete his entire life he loved the beach. He was a member of The Santa Monica Beach Club and served as its president in 1965. Sweet, elegant, disciplined and measured, Hugh was dedicated to his family and Eleanor, his wife of 64 years. A year after her death Hugh and Evelyn Garret became sweethearts. When he was 95, they headed off to Italy on a sea cruise. Their romance lasted 5 lovely years until she died in 2009.

Hugh is survived by his two sons Michael Bedford Gallagher and Kevin Moss Gallagher, daughter-in-laws Cynthia Herrick Gallagher and Margitha Stockel Gallagher, grandchildren Sara Gallagher Alm, Meghan Moss Gallagher, Brian James Gallagher, Casey Gallagher Newman and Ryan Moss Gallagher, step grandchildren Ryan Ridley and Ricky Ridley, great grandchildren Nasen Ellis Alm son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephan Alm and Sairshe Diane Newman daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Newman. The family wishes to express our heartfelt love and appreciation for the steadfast care, tenderness and devotion provided by the staff at Vintage Newport, in particular, Tito and Romy. Hugh willed his body to the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine for Medical Research and Education.
