JOEY BAKER Obituary

October 15, 1921 - October 3, 2013 "THE BROKER OF VENICE" Native of California, Joey was a pioneer in Venice Real Estate for over 50 years. Joey was a leader of many Venice organizations: Realty Board, Rotary, UMLS, Chamber of Commerce, Boy's Club, etc. He was connected to his Jewish heritage through Mishkon Tephilo, AZA, B'nai B'rith and Sinai Temple. Serving in the Navy in San Diego, he loved boating, and was a member of the Del Rey Yacht Club. Joey Baker is survived by his lovely wife Millie (married for 66 years), his sons Norman and Don, daughter Jan, son-in-law Mark Kaplan, daughter-in-law Dawn Hunter and his grandchildren Lindsey and Josh. In addition to his many close friends, he had devoted caregivers. All of us will miss Joey's great spirit and his special smile. Joey was a dear man, great guy and dear friend of my family. We go way back to Boyle Hts and Venice, CA. Millie is a sweetheart, and used to shop for ties for Joey at our family business, Mr. Sid's Mens Shoppe in Santa Monica, CA. The Bakers are a wonderful family, and I want to express my belated heartfelt sorrow for your loss. Joey will truly be missed.

While visiting Venice in 1986, I was surprised to walk past a real estate office called "Joey Baker Realty".I stopped to take a photo and then stopped in to say hi and to let them know that my name is also Joey Baker. My condolences to Joey's family
