Louis Rosner Obituary

Rosner, Louis J.
December 14, 1929 - April 1, 2013
Dr. Rosner was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. A graduate of Baylor University School of Medicine, he was a retired professor of Neurology at UCLA and a world renowned expert on Multiple Sclerosis, having co-authored with Shelley Ross the book "Multiple Sclerosis: New Hope and Practical Advice for People with MS and their Families." This feisty, brilliant man passed away after a valiant battle against the ravages of Post Polio Syndrome. He is survived by his wife, Larraine Rosner of Encino, CA, his brother, Alan Rosner of Albuquerque, NM, his nieces and nephews and countless grateful patients.
Funeral services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the UCLA Department of Neurology.

Louis had the most amazing ability to find a positive way of looking at the world, even when he, himself, was not feeling well. When he was lying in a bed in ICU, with his dancing eyes and charming grin, he would still find the energy to muster encouragement to me regarding my work. He recognized the incredible power of a positive attitude in the healing process. This was an integral part of his persona, which he generously applied to all aspects of his life, to the great benefit of his friends, family and patients.

My family will always be grateful for the loving care he provided to my mother and again years later to me; he was an incredibly special man. I feel very fortunate (and lucky) to have known Dr. Rosner; always sensitive...profound sympathies to his loved ones
