Marie Hadji Obituary

July 23, 1940 - April 9, 2016 Marie Hadji was born in Kempten, Germany on July 23, 1940 to Anna Deufel and Max Weinzierl. Her father died in 1941. In 1950 Marie's mother, stepfather, younger brother and two sisters emigrated to California. Marie joined them in 1952. She received a bachelor's deegree from UCLA. After marriage and the birth of her son Eric in 1972, she enjoyed a long career as a paralegal in several prestigious Westside law firms. Marie was active in many non-profit music organizations including the Hollywood Bowl Society, the L.A. Opera League, the Pacific Opera Project and the Santa Monica Emeritus College Gospel Choir. Most recently she was Executive Director of the International Festival Society. She was an accomplished artist favoring water colors and jewelry design. Marie passed away on April 9 after a long battle with cancer. She leaves behind her partner Bill Burleigh, her son Eric Hadji, her brother Alex Nigian of Montebello and older brother Anton Maurus of Bad Groenenbach, Germany.
