Michael Abbatecola Obituary

Abbatecola, Michael F. February 10, 1941 - August 12, 2005 On February 10, 1941, Michael Francis Abbatecola was born to Frank and Colleen Abbatecola at The French Hospital in Los Angeles, California (China Town).
Michael attended and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1958. In 1958, he began his forty-six year career with the United States Post Office at the Edendale Station. In addition, he served in the Army Reserves for six years during 1958 to 1964. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Nellie, six children and six grandchildren. Yvonne, Kristine, Caroline, Luis, Vince, and Dorene with Michael's grandchildren, Jonah, Julia, Andrea, Adrian, Hannah, and Julian Ray all loved him dearly. His son, Julian Ray, preceded him in death in 1993. In addition, Michael is survived by his father, Frank, sister, Larraine, and his niece, Dionne. During the past two years, Michael valiantly fought for his life against cancer. On August 12, 2005 his physical body succumbed to the painful illness but not his spirit. Until the very end Michael battled with hope and grace teaching us all how to embrace life and death. Funeral Mass tonight at 7:30 PM, at Our Lady of Miraculous Medals, Montebello. Michael was my best friend and more than a fater in-law. In the past twenty two years that I had known him he was always a loving person. He lived with so much passion, and he was the example in my life. I will miss you always; I hopefully will see you and Ray in Heaven. Love You,

From your son-in-law Phillip.

To Mikes's Family,

I worked with Mike at the Post Office in the early sixties. He was always a decent person and a fun person to be around. I have thought of him often during the ensuing years, and I'm sorry that I never kept in contact with him.
