Burbridge, Robert J.
August 3, 1933 - December 11, 2010
Photographer Robert Burbridge succumbed to cancer on Saturday December 11th at the Sepulveda VA Hospice. Bob was born in Minneapolis MN to Frank and Anne Burbridge, and younger brother to sisters Maxine, Mary, and Anne. He served in the US Naval Reserve, and later the US Army in France. Graduate of the Art Center School in Pasadena, he is known for his late 50s album photos for Nat "King" Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and many other Capitol talent, as well as the most recognized color photos of Richie Valens. He later did corporate photography for Boeing and freelance portraits throughout the west coast. A talented amateur auto racer, his personal interest in the sport led to sought after images of many of the US and European racing greats of the 50s-70s and their cars. Bob retained the wit and humor known by his friends until the very end. He is survived by his son LTC Dean Burbridge, daughter-in-law Rebecca, and a great multitude of nieces and nephews.
