William McGrath

William Robert "Bob" McGrath, 79, a resident of Columbus, N.M. entered eternal rest on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital. Bob was born on Sept. 25, 1933 in South Weymouth, Mass. to William B. McGrath and Kathleen Green. Bob graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and went on to earn his Ph.D in Pharmacology from the University of Washington. Science was his vocation. Sport aviation was his passion. He held a private pilot's license for more than 50 years. He attained his Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic's license and ultimately became a licensed aircraft inspector (IA). He restored several small aircraft, flew many more and treasured the many friends he encountered on his journey. He will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. He was survived by his loving wife, Carol McGrath; one son, Michael McGrath; two daughters, Kathleen Miles of Carlsbad, Calif. and Rosemary Gravett and her husband Harry of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two brothers, James McGrath and Jack McGrath and six grandchildren, Autumn, Paul, Amy, Kristen, Kelly and Ryan. Per his wishes cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory and a memorial service will be held by the family at a later time. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels & Crematory.
