June 23, 1932 - December 30, 2022
Columbus, Georgia - Joyce Garver Messenger, age 90, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Columbus Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Edgar C. and Dorothy E. (Keller) Keyl.
Survivors include her 6 loving sons, Chris Garver of Phenix City, AL, Eric (Susan) Garver of Ft. Myers, FL, Scott (Sheila) Garver of Waverly Hall, GA, Tim (Michelle) Garver of Columbus, GA, and Wynn Messenger of Columbus, GA; her loving 21 grandchildren; her loving 55 great-grandchildren; and her loving 10 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her loving son, Richard (Donna) Garver of Harris County, GA.
Joyce's Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 4026 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 1:00PM. Reverend Dr. Shirley M. Redmond will be officiating. There will be a visitation at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Tuesday evening in St. Elmo Chapel from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Burial will follow Church Service on Wednesday afternoon at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made in Joyce's memory to Columbus Hospice Center, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909 or Columbus Valley Rescue Mission, 2903 2nd Avenue, Columbus, GA 31904.

We are so sorry to about Joyce's passing. Cub and Cub and I so enjoyed visiting with her on several special occasions. We offer our deepest sympathy as well as thoughts and prayers to the entire Garver family knowing she will be deeply missed my all.
