Columbus, GA- SGM(Ret.)Terry Lee West 59, of 2500 White Chapel Drive, Columbus, Georgia passed Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. Graveside services will be held 2:00PM Sunday October 28, 2012 at Sunset Cemetery, Meigs, Georgia, Thomas County with Rev. Willie McNeil officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, Columbus. Visitation will be from 1:00PM-6:00PM Saturday October 27, 2012 at the Rose Hill Chapel of Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 2919 Hamilton Road, Columbus. The family will recieve friends from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at the funeral home. SGM West was born July 5, 1953 in Thomas County, Georgia son of the late Edgar L. and Evelyn West. He was retired from the United States Army, a graduate of Columbus Technical College in auto mechanics and earned an associate degree from Troy State University. SGM West was also a member of the 20/30 Club and a Prince Hall Mason. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Thelma West, Columbus; 4 sons, Terry J. (Garniecia)West, Clayton(Evelyn)West III, Columbus, GA, Darius(Chizora)Taylor, Danbury, CT and Robert L. Taylor, Columbus, GA; 5 daughters, Desiree(Frank)Adams, Oceanside, CA, Brittani West, Atlanta, GA, Kirstern James, Meigs, GA, Jneese McCaskill, Atlanta, GA and Nakia Clarke(deceased); 3 brothers, James(Valeria)West, Meigs, GA, Ulysses(Audrey)West and Ernest(Ernestine)West, Thomasville, GA; 1 sister, Eddie Mae Stokes, Tallahasse, FL; 20 grandchildren; 2 sisters in law, Patricia Taylor, Columbus, GA and Deborah Moore, Atlanta, GA;4 brothers in law, Garrett Moore, Delong Moore, Danny(Joan)Moore and Willie(Estella)Moore all of Columbus, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and dear friends. The Processional will depart the family residence at 9:00AM on Sunday.

This is to express my sincere sympathy to the West family. I worked with Sgt. West at 3/32nd Inf. Bn, on Sand hill. Sgt. West was one of the nicest people to to work with, he kept up the morale with fun and laughter for us all. I am sure that he will be sorely missed. May God continue to bless you all during your time of sorrow.
