Harold Kullgren

1915 - 2015

TEMPLE - Harold Kullgren, 99, of Temple, died Tuesday, Jul. 21, 2015 at his home. He was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Temple, the son of Gustaf and Mable (Paige) Kullgren.

Harold was a corporal in the Army, having served five years in the South Pacific in heavy artillery during World War II. On Jul. 19, 1947, he married Myrtie Flanders, his wife of 68 years.

Harold was a lifelong resident of Temple, a town that he truly loved. He was a road agent for the town of Temple for 20 years and was also a dairy farmer in Temple.

Harold had a cabin for 45 years at Lake Umbagog in northern New Hampshire. He loved the area and loved to fish on the lake. He also kept the fields clean at the Stewartstown Farm and spent much time there. He was a master vegetable gardener.

Harold was a Deacon at the Temple Congregational Church as well as a two-term Selectman for the town.

Harold cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.

Harold is survived by his wife of 68 years, Myrtie (Flanders) Kullgren; one son, Brian Kullgren and his wife, Joyce, of Temple; and six grandchildren: Bruce Kullgren Jr. and his fiancée, Crisann, Arron Kullgren, Krista Kullgren, Hilary Chapin and her husband, West, Lilah Barlow and her husband, Paul, Zeb Weston and her husband, Joe and Krystle Beckmann and her husband, Eric, and eight great-grandchildren. Harold was predeceased by his son Bruce Kullgren and his brothers Frank, Robert, Howard, Karl and a sister Bernice Kullgren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Temple Congregational Church on Monday, Jul. 27, 2015. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the Friendship Hall next door to the church.
