Alexander Budge

BUDGE, Alexander (1920 - 2004) Died Monday, October 18 at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. Born in Wick, Caithness, Scotland, emigrating to Regina with his parents in 1923. He is survived by his loving family, wife Muriel, children Donna Martin (Bill), Pat (Bob) McFarland, Judy (George) MacIntosh, Jim (Jan) and Dave (Tracey); grandchildren Luc and Adam Martin; Neil and Laura McFarland; Kate and Craig MacIntosh; Jasmin and Jessie Budge; and Rachael, Alexander and Hannah Budge; also by his sister Isobel MacKenzie, Vancouver, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alex served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, 1941-46, including command of a Corvette. He retired in 1983 from Imperial Oil after 44 years but remained very active in retirement. Alex served as first Chairman of Edmonton's Space Sciences Centre, President of Edmonton Opera Board, founding member and President of Canadian 4H Foundation, President of Junior Achievement and various other volunteer positions. He was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal 2002 for his many contributions.
