ALEXANDER ESSAR Obituary
1916 - 2013
Alex Essar, late of William Albert House in Emerald Park, SK, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the age of 96. He was born in Theodore, SK, and was a long time resident of Lloydminster where he and his wife owned and operated Essar's Jewellery for 39 years. Alex was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 1995; also by two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his two daughters, Jill Whitaker (Richard) of Portugal Cove, NL; and Irene Temple (Rick) of White City, SK; one sister Margaret Wojcichowsky of Theodore; grandchildren Robin, Myles (Stephanie), and Darroch of Newfoundland; Stephen (Yuhong Zhang) of Ottawa; Heather and Ian of Saskatchewan; and great grandchildren Lucas, Erin, Alex, and Elizah-Jayne, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of William Albert House for their kindness over the last eight months and especially during his last week there. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Lloydminster at a date to be announced. Flowers gratefully declined. If you wish to remember Alex, a donation in his memory could be given to the Nature Conservancy of Canada at www.natureconservancy.ca since he valued our ecological landscape so highly or to a charity of your choice. I met Alec when i was just a little kid...my mom and grandparents were from Theodore...he was always so nice to us kids when we'd see him...i have fond memories of him.

Dear Irene, Rick, Jill and family,
It has been a great pleasure for us to get to know Alex over the past 8 months. Being the kind, sweet man that he was, Alex easily made his way into our hearts. We will miss him dearly and will cherish the many wonderful memories we have of him.
