Arthur ALEXANDER Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on May 8, 2011.
ALEXANDER, Arthur L. It is with great shock and sadness we announce the untimely death of Art Alexander on 27 April 2011. He was born in Winnipeg 1927 to Mary and Lyall Alexander. Art always enjoyed life to the fullest savouring hunting, fishing, golf and many other athletic activities. He excelled at business endeavours and while working at National Cash Register became one of their top sales people nationwide. When his interest in this career waned in the early 1970's, he decided to go into real estate starting Art Alexander Reality Ltd. a well known company on the coast and in Vancouver. Always a great supporter of the local economy he will always be remembered as one of the partners whose inspiration led to the building of the Pender Harbour Shopping Centre. Left to grieve his loss are his brothers Jack (Vancouver), Ted (Garden Bay) sister Mary Lou (Bruno) Qualicum, Roman Pasqualotto (nephew), Crista Holmes, Lisa and Rick Clements, Frid Eva Storeng (Bill) , Viivi Alexander, Scott McQuitty and many other friends and relatives. Art, you wrote down you did not want to be a burden, please understand you were never, ever a burden. It was so hard to see you struggle with your normal so quickly handled routines in the last few months. May you be at peace now and your burdens erased. Art's wishes were to have no service but there has been a request for a celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, Sechelt BC, a group his mother Mary supported and work with for many years.

Dear Uncle Art, My dad speaks so sadly of your passing, you were a great brother to him and he has many fond memories growing up with you in Ontario, Vancouver and fishing in Pender Harbour, and selling cash registers. I can hear your chuckle. Hoping you are in a better place, Your niece, Nancy Alexander, Prince George

So sorry to hear of Art's passing. He was a good friend to us over the years. My husband knew Art through work and we also knew him through a real estate purchase. He was always a great host and a fountain of knowledge when we had a question. He will be missed by Sunny & Don Ford.
