Woonsocket – Arthur W. Courtemanche, 82, of Manila Avenue died Sunday, September 18 at home. He was the husband of Juliette (Plante) Courtemanche.

Born in North Uxbridge, Massachusetts, a son of the late Edmund and Yvonne (Beauchesne) Courtemanche, he had lived in Slatersville before moving to Lauderhill, Florida and, later, Daytona Beach, Florida for29 years. He has lived in Woonsocket for the past 4 years.

Mr. Courtemanche was the superintendent of the Water Department for the City of Lauderhill, Florida for 14 years, retiring in 1983. He previously was an oilman for Letourneau Brothers, Uxbridge, Massachusetts for 26 years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sisters, Janet Howard of Whitinsville, Massachusetts and Madeleine Beauregard of North Providence; 1 brother, Emile Courtemanche of Pascoag; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Staff Sergeant Maurice Courtemanche, who died in the Battle of the Bulge, and the late Hector Courtemanche.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, September 18 at 11 A.M. from the Roy Funeral Home, 1 Bouvier Avenue, Manville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Manville.
