Audrey Mae Goodman

Audrey Mae Goodman (nee James/Jacobson), 95, Rye, NH passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023. She was born in Duluth, MN on April 22, 1928 to the late Agnes Jacobson (nee Nichols) and Lewis James and adopted by Lloyd Jacobson.

She attended Central High School in Superior, WI and was a graduate of St Mary's Nursing School in Duluth, MN. Joined the Army as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston Hospital where she met her husband Capt. George Goodman, Jr. They had 6 children and were stationed at multiple locations around the US and Europe.

After George retired at Pease, Audrey began working at Portsmouth Hospital in the Operating Room where she forged lasting friendships.

For a person who hated to fly, in her retirement she traveled extensively. Caused shenanigans in Ireland with her friends. Tire blowouts galore. She was a talented artist. Painted pictures for family and friends as long as she could. She loved to share stories about her travels to meet George in Europe especially the time she was in the jump seat with the USAF Bobsled team. She loved her midwest family and was constantly meeting new extended family members.

She will be sorely missed by her immediate family, wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Heino) Hagen, Germany, Colleen Goodman, NV, Janette (Tom Peterman) Goodman, Cayman, Moira Goodman, NH, and her son Dean (Marcia) Goodman, ME. And Son-in-Law Noel (Ann) Hickey. Grandchildren Stephen (MaryRose) Engler, Jeffrey (Katie) Engler, Stephanie and Andreas Hagen and Nuala Peterman. Great Grandchildren Jacob and Colin Engler and Shane and Lila Engler. She was predeceased by her husband, daughter Georgette and grandson David Engler.

She will be interred at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery beside her husband.
