Age 78, of McCandless, on October 28, 2011. Audrey Irons Wharton, wife of the late Roger A. Wharton; dear mother of Nancy Irons Wharton. Friends received Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the McDONALD - LINN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 529 California Ave., Avalon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1501 W. Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Memorial contributions are suggested to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 or a conservation organization of your choice.

Mrs. Wharton was my kindergarten teacher at the Ben Avon Methodist Church on Woodland Road in 1961. I remember her fondly as a kind and caring teacher. She and your father later built a house on the lot beside my house in Ben Avon Heights. I had dinner with a friend from grade school, David Koch, last week and we spoke of your mother.
