BARRON LEE Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Oct. 3, 2015.
LEE, Barron
Diane Dwyer, Barron's spouse of 29 years, announces with profound grief, the passing of Barron on September 25, 2015, at the age of 80. Barron died at home surrounded by Diane, his son Brent, daughter-in-law Beth, his best friend Bobby Wilson and Barron's doctor, Wayne Smith.
Predeceased by parents Al and Mary and little sister Barbara, those left to mourn are Diane's son Christopher Wieser; the mother of Barron's sons, Joan, sons Brent (Beth), Barron JR (Debbie), grandchildren Ryan (Tage), Christina (Kyle), Michelle (Isiah), Derek, Diana, Wesley and Brandon, great-grandchildren Jordan, Jessie and Peyton. Barron's Saskatoon cousins John, Joanne, Donna and their families, Diane's sisters Patricia Wellman (Chuck), Charlene Hunter (Bill), Kathleen Adams, and their families.
Barron's grandfather, Elias, started E A Lee as an alterations shop. Barron's dad, Al, joined him in 1929 and was the first clothier to bring in the Warren K Cook line. Barron started to work with his dad at a very young age. Barron introduced the new look from the U.S. called ' ivy league' which became very popular in Vancouver- particularly the button down shirts. One of Barron's greatest successes was discovering the Italian line Belvest. Barron always said putting on a Belvest jacket was like putting on your favourite sweater. Barron was the epitome of sartorial elegance as the owner of E A Lee and Madison's mens wear and many in this town owe their "look" and "style" to Barron.
Barron's last six years were happy despite the changes to his life and body after his stroke. This was made possible through the companionship of friends who learned in their own way to re- communicate with Barron. Barron had several more good years due to the extraordinary care provided by Dr. Wayne Smith and the daily support of Vancouver Coastal Health Home Care "the girls" from the West Vancouver cluster and Shannon from Mobile Life labs.
Diane and Barron's neighbours and friends Heather, Debbie, Lorna-Mae and Scott provided support and help over the last 5 1/2 years. Special thanks to Bobby and Anita Wilson for always being there for Barron and Diane
Services will be at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Ave (at 21st) on October 13, 2015 at 1 p.m., reception following. In lieu of flowers, please consider North Shore Stroke and Recovery or the BCSPCA.

I had the great pleasure of working for / with Barron as the manager of his Victoria E.A. Lee store. A better mentor no one could ask for. Generous in spirit and deed, a gentleman through and through, and one remembered each and every day in how I conduct my business. Though you are gone, your legacy will live on. All the very best to family and friends.

My sincere condolences on the passing of Barron. I had the pleasure of working with Barron during my times at both GFT and Hugo Boss. I will remember him as a gentleman with a great sense of humour, and a sartorial leader in Canada.

Dear Diane,
I am saddened to know of Barron's passing, please accept my sincere condolences. I will always remember Barron as an icon of style, a true gentleman of the fashion industry, and a great mentor. E.A.Lee and Barron will remain as an epitome of service and style.... we all learned and were better for our years working for him. Diane and Family
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Barron always made a visit to Lee's such a pleasure. Barron was the ultimate good host. It was like going to someone's home!
As soon as we got to the door, Barbie headed to the women's section, and I'd go to the men's.
Great fashion, and fine people! Barron built a fine team of really good individuals.
As my wife reminded me, I have been made to look better by JR, Craig, Ryan, and Barron, himself!
My contact with Barron went way back to the days when my father used to purchase his suits from Al Lee,. Barron was in his early 20's, and I was sixteen. A long time ago, but it seems only yesterday.
Barron was a fine man then, and remained that way.
Our thoughts are with you,
Yours truly
Barbie and Mike Fullerton

My sincere codolences. I always enjoyed going into EA Lee and Madison's with my Dad who would share stories of the "old days" while I tried on amazing suites and clothes. You will be missed Barron.

Barron was the first Vancouver merchant to courageously open on Boxing Day, 1975, with a large sale at EA Lee. It was a fantastic success. Barron created a habidashery team like no other, raising the bar for gentlemen's dressing to new heights. Barron was a visionary when it came to men's fashion, style and panache. Thank you Diane for being so devoted and loyal to make his last years so comfortable.
