Mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Beatrice Kavowras (nee Gazis) went to sleep with the Lord on May 11, 2013 after a prolonged illness.

Known for her warmth and sense of humor, Beatrice was also fighter, surviving cancer twice – most recently in 2006.
Born on February, 23, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, Beatrice was the third child of Michael and Joanna Gazis (nee Zachari) and she was married to her husband of 56 years, Thomas B. Kavowras, on March 11, 1945.

An active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society throughout her life, Beatrice and Thomas were founding members of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in West Babylon, New York.

Following her retirement from the A&S Department Store, Beatrice and Thomas moved to the Tampa Bay area, where she resided for 29 years.

Beatrice is survived by her children Francine and Nicholas, her grandsons Gregory and Andrew, her great-granddaughter Parker, daughter of Andrew as well as her brother Costas (Gus) and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours for Beatrice will be on Tuesday, May 14 at Moss-Feaster Funeral Home in Palm Harbor, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with funeral services 11:00am Wednesday, May 15 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater.

Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and Suncoast Hospice at Brookside.
