I knew that wonderful face immediately when I read the paper. I grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and Betty and her family were our neighbors. I have so many wonderful memories of joyful times playing together with the family and Betty helping my mother, Sue Miller, at Louisa May Alcott School. She was always smiling and happy to see me. I am so sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing your mother with me.

As I sit here holding my grandson, I am reflecting on my morning spent with my aunt and cousins at the funeral of my greatest heroine,Great Aunt Betty.I probably should of shared some of my memories today but unlike the others in my family I don't have the voice one needs to address such a crowd of matters that so touch my heart.Several times in my life Aunt Betty came to stay with my mother and I in our times of need in her professional capacity. When life was the hardest to cope with, during the illness of my step father, as well as my grandmother, and my mother. During those times she was the rock I held on too. I would always sit with Aunt Betty and Aunt Lila, during the funerals of various relatives, one of them once told me it gets easier with time. It's not easier, but is necessary. For the young ones to grow the old ones must move over so they can see the light. This has been another heartbreaking loss, but I have learned great lessons on life from those in my family, and I am praying I pass them on to future generations, as with my children and theirs. I hug my little angel and know some day some time Aunt Betty and all that have passed will hug me again, one day. It's great to come from a family of huggers, one of my first memories are of Aunt Betty and Aunt Lila Picking me up at a Critt reunion when I was like five maybe,,telling me we were a family of huggers. Aunt Betty thanked me for coming up to see her before she passed away so we could visit, and we had a long talk about my mother and her last words to me. As I left her that day with my brother she told me, "I love you, have a safe trip home." Words I will cherish always.OH and the Satin Pink Pajamma's were a fantastic Idea. It's like she had thought of me when planning her final resting dress. Brought a smile to my face thru my tears. She will always be the kind of person I hope to become. Guess that is what hero's and heroine's are for, huh. Still some of the greatest hugs I have ever had came from this woman named Betty. She will be missed, but always in my heart along with all those family and friends which I love with all of my being.

We loved Aunt Betty and she retuurned that love in generous measure to all her family. We will be eternally grateful to her for the love and care she gave our mother (Nellie) in her last year. We will miss her phone calls..."just checking up on you guys," she always said with a smile in her voice. We were so glad we got to visit with her a few weeks ago. She was peaceful and smiling and we are sure she is doing the same in heaven, surrounded by her family who were waiting for her. Prayers to all her children and grandchildren. Wish we could be with you today.

Wayne & Carol
I know that I didn't your mother, Knowing you and Carol I can see what the value of her life was, she loved her family and though you I can see her sweetness and warm heart for all others. I hope that you and your family can rest with the fact that she has went home to be her family and the lord, that is the best place for her to rest and watch over all she has left behind until they join her. God Bless all of you and see you soon. You have been missed.

Wayne & Carole,

What a blessing it was you had time to go back and spend the time caring for your mother in her final days. How special it must be to feel the love of your family around you, then go to be with our Lord. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.

Because we were distant relatives from the Judy side of the family, my sister and I got in touch with Betty. She and John opened their home to us and we had a wonderful visit. Betty was a very gracious woman, and I am proud that I got to meet her. My sympathy goes to the family.

Betty was such a loving and generous person. We only met once, but felt like I had grown up with her and her sisters. We are family, and I loved Betty and John too. My heartfelt prayers are with her family at this time.

I always enjoyed seeing Betty at the family reunions. She was always fun and so pleasant. I was very touched when she came all the way to Caldwell for my mom's funeral a few years ago. She will be missed! May God comfort her family and give you strength in your sorrow.
