Billy Griffin

Billy Griffin, age 78, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, in Logan Memorial Hospital.

He was a Tennessee native, born July 29, 1939, to the late George W. Griffin and Luna Bagwell Griffin.

He was a truck driver for Rockwell International for a number of years, then worked as an over-the-road driving instructor for Bowling Green Technical College. He was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lillie Griffin; one son, Jeff Simmons and wife Sheila of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one daughter, Kimberly Jo Griffin Spencer of Bowling Green, Ky.; three sisters, Virginia Norden of Knoxville, Tenn., Marjorie Jackson of Bay Minette, Ala. and Iris Hewitt of Trenton, N.J., and one grandson, Colton Spencer of Bowling Green, Ky.

Along with his parents, Griffin was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Edwards.

A memorial service for Billy Griffin will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Freudenthal, Bro. Gary Johnson and Bro. Jared Patrick officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 15 beginning at 4 p.m. and lasting until the service hour.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Southern Heights Baptist Church Building Fund or to Southern Heights Baptist Church AWANA Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
