Bogdan Stojsavljevich Obituary
Bogdan Stojsavljevich, age 72, of Hebron, formerly of Merrillville and Gary, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2014. Bogdan was born to Milos and Jovanka Stojsavljevich in Velika Popina, Lika, former Yugoslavia, coming to America in 1968. He was a lifelong member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. Bogdan was also a member of The Movement of Serbian Chetniks -Ravna Gora- Gary/ Merrillville Chapter. He retired from U.S. Steel - Gary Works with 30 years of service. Mr. Stojsavljevich was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Milka Stojsavljevich; parents: Milos and Jovanka; siblings: Milka Gutesha and Pajo Stojsavljevich in the United States, and Draga, Nikola, and Bosa in former Yugoslavia. Bogdan is survived by his loving children: son, Nick Stojsavljevich; daughter, Donna (Dave) Kennedy; beloved grandchildren: Natasha and Aleksandar Kennedy; nieces and nephews: Millie Hamilton and family, Mike Stojsavljevich, Millie Mihajlovich and family; and many other family members, nieces, nephews, kumovi, and lifelong friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, directly at 10:00 AM with Father Aleksandar Novakovic officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point with a Pomen service at 7:00 PM. My Sincere Condolences to All The Family and Circle of Family and Friends of Bogdan "Bob" . To Nick and Donna and Millie Gutesha-Hamilton Your Father and Uncle Bob I had the pleasure of meeting long ago when he 1st came to live out here in Indiana. He was so nice and had a great sense of humor he was so happy to meet us..I remember that year being invited to the Fest ..we all went too and we all had Lamb and Danced . Uncle Bob Danced with us to the Kola ..Funny for me as it was the 1st time to have Lamb and to Dance ..Needless to say His Spirit as to all his family touched my heart.. Great Family and Great Memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you and in Spirit , May the Memories of Your Father, Uncle and Friend be in all your Hearts.. Nick and Donna, so very, very sorry. Your father was a wonderful man. I loved his sense of humor and I particularly loved to hear him laugh.
I am so sorry I haven't stayed in touch these last few years.
Given my age and my own impending mortality, I typically avoid the obituaries and only came across his because I was looking up the wife of another friend who died in a car crash on Route 2 the other day.
Heaven brightened considerably the moment your dad walked in.
