KING CITY, Mo. - C. Wade Bryson, 89, King City, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at a St. Joseph, Mo. hospital.
Wade was born Nov. 13, 1917 in King City. He was a graduate of King City high school. Wade was a signalman in the United States Navy for 4 1/2 years during WWII. He served in the Pacific Atlantic and Mediterranean Theaters. Wade was officially commended for "exceptional courage and outstanding skills, unfailing bravery and alertness."
Wade lived in King City all of his life except for twenty years in Daviess County. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church and the King City American Legion Post No. 132.
Mr. Bryson was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Jessie (McMillen); three brothers, Max, Roger and Jack Bryson; two sisters, Margaret Cain and Ruth Bryson; and a granddaughter, Beatrice Bryson.
On Feb. 25, 1950 in Carrollton, Mo. he married the former Frances Cook, she survives of the home.
Additional survivors: two sons, Steve Bryson and wife Leisa and Mike Bryson and wife Mary, all of King City; sister-in-law, Streausie Bryson, King City; six grandchildren; twins, Adriane Hume and husband, Donald, Andrea Hodge and husband, Ryan, Wade, Aleshea, and twin sisters, Bridgette and Brittany Bryson; two great-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Morey and Peyton Hume; a great-great-grandson arriving soon, Carter Hodge; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, Gibson Funeral Home, King City, Mo. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Interment: King City Cemetery, King City, with Military Services at the Grave under the auspices of the King City American Legion Post No. 132.
Memorials: The family suggests memorial donations to the King City American Legion Post No. 132, King City, or the Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church, in care of Gibson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 552, King City, Mo. 64463.
