C. JOHN RAYMOND - BURLINGTON - C. John Raymond, 84, a longtime resident of Burlington, died peacefully in Fletcher Allen Health Care on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, surrounded by loving family. John was born in Swanton on Feb. 10, 1927, the son of Constant J. and Ila May (Curtis) Raymond. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served his country for the United States Navy. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 782, the American Legion, Regular Veterans Association and the Disabled American Veterans. John was a self-employed owner and operator of Raymond's Trucking for many years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emma Raymond; three sons and their wives, Bruce and Diane Raymond, Larry and Tara Raymond and Denis and Susan Raymond; grandchildren, Jaime, Megan, Andrew, Stephen, Adam, Brett and Sean; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Marcus Raymond and his wife, Madeline; a special niece, Diane Robtoy; a close nephew, David Blow; and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a son, John Raymond; a sister, Pearl; and two brothers, Gerald and Stanley Raymond. Visiting hours will be on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m., with prayer services beginning at 7 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Fort Ethan Allen Cemetery in Colchester. Military honors will be accorded Mr. Raymond by the Vermont National Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 452500301.
