Catherine Marquez Coco
February 24, 1929-April 2, 2022
Catherine Marquez Coco entered into the heavenly gates at the age of 93 on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at her home in Hemet, California. Catherine was the second eldest child born to Jesusa Marquez (Francisco Jacquez) on February 24, 1929, in Silver City, New Mexico.
Catherine lived in Los Angeles, Lawndale, Blythe, and ultimately Hemet, California. She was married two times during her life, first to Alfredo Gomez and then to Delfino Coco. She was also a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.
Catherine was a devout Catholic who modeled her life after Jesus’ example of love and giving unto others. She was kind and fun-loving. She loved making memories with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, reading, karaoke, dancing, volleyball, softball, yard sales, working with children, and talking and joking with people. She was really good at braiding hair and provided great conversation while doing so. She was a smart and loving individual who had a contagious sense of humor, a smile that could light up a room, and a heart of gold. There are no words that can describe how dearly she will be missed.
Catherine leaves behind her five children, Angie (Uffe) Moller, Katie Gomez, Fred Gomez, Gloria Gomez Salazar, and Caroline Adams; 8 grandchildren, Uffe Jr., Karina, Sherman, Liza, Carlos, Angie, Marieta, and Patricia; 14 great-grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Tyler, Lisa, Jake, Brianna, Ashley, Chris, Amanda, Trevor, Kassandra, Ethan, Franky, and Mya; 5 1/2 great-great grandchildren Brian, Emma, Aaliyah, Zeppelin, Daisy, and Baby Salas arriving soon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her step-father Francisco, her mother Jesusa, her first husband and the father of her children Alfredo Gomez, and her eight brothers and sisters.

Just want to share a few thoughts on my Tia and Godmother--she loved her family more than anything. She was way ahead of her time as she was very athletic, independent, and entrepreneurial. She missed her siblings who died young and thought of them daily. I will remember her kindness, love, and affection. The world is better because of the influence she had on her large and extended family.
