Catherine Marcucci Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2024.
On Friday, April 26, 2024, Catherine "Cathy" Marcucci, aged 60, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. She valiantly fought a three-year battle with aggressive anaplastic thyroid cancer.

Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and sister, and a dear friend to many. She also served as Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Industry, where she resided.

A lifelong resident of Southern California, Cathy began her civic career in 2017 as a member of the City of Industry city council, where she served continuously, stepping into the role of Mayor Pro Tem in 2019. Throughout her tenure, she demonstrated exemplary leadership, fostering collaboration and championing causes that uplifted the lives of people and furry companions alike. An avid animal lover, Cathy spearheaded efforts to establish the first no-kill animal rescue in the San Gabriel Valley.

Cathy is survived by her husband Steve Marcucci; daughter Lauren Eigel and son-in-law, Pete; parents, Larry and Etta Colson; brother and sister, Tim Colson and Chrissy Lowe, and their families; and countless dear friends. She is also survived by her rambunctious four dogs and two cats, all equally beloved and in no particular order: Nemo, Lola, Rosie, Louee, Lucy, and Laci.

To honor her memory, the City of Industry will host a celebration of Cathy's life on Saturday, June 8, at 1pm at the Industry Hills Expo Center (16200 Temple Ave, City of Industry, CA). We invite friends, family, and anyone who knew Cathy to attend and celebrate her wonderful life and legacy. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright colors to match Cathy's vibrant spirit. Please bring your favorite photo and memory of Cathy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local animal shelter or to Priceless Pets, an animal rescue and shelter with whom Cathy volunteered, helping to save dozens of cats and dogs throughout the West Coast: https://pricelesspetrescue.org/cathy-marcucci/

To know Cathy was to know love, compassion, and joy. Her caring heart, warm smile, and sparkling laugh will be deeply missed.

I miss Cathy so very much! She always cared for others. I can't remember one time we laughed, because we laughed every time we were together! I will miss our NFL Sundays at espiaus and wearing her wearing Bengals gear to support me! I loved her and I will never ever forget her!
