CHARLES "Chuck" RICHARD
Of Philadelphia PA, passed away, Monday, November 27, 2017. Chuck is survived by his wife Stephanie, daughter Jane (G. David) Schwartz of Florence, TX, son Mark (Lori) Rubenstein of Brentwood, TX, grandchildren Jessica Olma, Erik Schwartz, Melissa Matusiewicz, Elizabeth Gates, Billy and Maggie Rubenstein, Lia, Marisa, Victoria and CJ Andrews, Rebecca Beahm and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his children Judith Gates, Charles Andrews Jr. and his parents Harold and Marion.
Chuck was born Jan. 1, 1927 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Harold and Marion (Downing) Andrews. He graduated from Oberlin College in 1948 and from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in 1950. He married the former Stephanie Bell in Philadelphia in 1976. Chuck was a theological scholar and served as Minister of the First Baptist Church of Chicago, where he championed the cause of civil rights. He later was a manager of the Redevelopment Authority in Philadelphia before returning to part-time ministerial duties.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday December 16, 2017 at Old Pine Church 412 Pine St, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Reverend Jason R. Ferris will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens at Old Pine. Memorials may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
