Charles Strickland Obituary
Charles R. Strickland, age 86, of Hammond was called into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2017. His daughter, Deanna Sue Strickland; brother, George Strickland; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends survive him. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Emma JoAnn Strickland; parents, Walter and Anna Strickland and ten siblings. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home 7042 Kennedy Ave. Hammond (Hessville) with Dan Nichols minister officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, morning from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. Charles was born on March 30, 1930 in Crown Point and was a resident of the Hammond area the past 50 years. He was retired as the head electrician at Standard Forging Company. He enjoyed watching T.V. and was a big Chicago Cubs fan. Charles was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge #569 F. &A.M. Hammond, IN whose members will offer a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. Charles will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his faithfulness as a loving husband, father and friend.
