Viegut, Clarence E.

Clarence E. Viegut, age 77, of Tomahawk, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau. Clarence was born April 12, 1937, to the late Clarence and Florence (Wyman) Viegut. He was married to Elaine Abegglen on June 1, 1963; she survives.

Clarence was born in Stratford, WI, and raised in Dorchester, WI. He was a member of the National Guard for 10 years, having served on active duty during the Berlin Crisis. In 1967, Clarence and Elaine moved to Tomahawk and built the Holiday Station Store. In 1970, the Viegut's Tomahawk Car Wash was added. He later opened Tomahawk Trailer and Boat Sales.

Clarence owned and operated Viegut's Do It Express of Tomahawk for close to 50 years. He was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Clarence received numerous awards and recognitions for his community involvement including the Lifetime Service Award from Governor Walker in 2013.

Clarence was a licensed cheese maker for over 10 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time at the cabin making maple syrup, growing Christmas trees and tending to his garden, flowers and plants. Clarence will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the Tomahawk community.

Clarence is survived by his Wife, Elaine, of Tomahawk; his son, Brian (Carmen) Viegut, of Tomahawk; 1 daughter, Brenda Moss, of Waunakee, WI; 3 brothers, James (Sherry) Viegut, of Abbotsford; Jeff (Sue) Viegut, of Tripoli;, and Mark (Darla) Viegut, of Abbotsford; 8 sisters, Charmaine (Harold) Amacher, of Abbotsford; Yvonne (Donnie) Koerner, of Dorchester; Jelaine (Jerrell) Carstensen, of Medford; Judy (Verlyn) Wittlinger, of Abbotsford; Gail (Duane) Underwood, of Colby; Debra (Greg) Stoiber, of Green Bay; Cindy (Jeff) Sebold and Carla (Duane) Wepfer, both of Marshfield; and his sister-in-law, Joyce Viegut, of Abbotsford. Clarence is further survived by 4 grandchildren, Taylor, McKena, Alex and Elise. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, LaVern, and his son-in-law, Terrence Moss.

Funeral services for Clarence Viegut will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Schoenherr will officiate. The family will receive friends at Generations Funeral Home on Sunday, September 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again, on Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Generations Funeral Home is assisting the family.
