Corinne M. Papa

BEVERLY — Corinne M. (Madore) Papa, 70, wife of John B. Papa, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at Beverly Hospital, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Salem on Sept. 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Augustine and Dorine (LeBlanc) Madore. Corinne grew up in Salem and attended Salem schools, including St. James High School and St. Anne's Grammar School.

Corinne was first employed by the telephone company in Salem, and then worked for the Beverly School system for nearly 27 years before her retirement. She loved being outdoors, in particular spending time in Salem walking on the Common and through Pickering Wharf. Corinne was a true people person, always connecting with someone everywhere she went. She was an avid bingo player, an expert at crossword puzzles and a huge Boston Red Sox fan.

Surviving her in addition to her husband are her son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Vicki Papa of Beverly; her daughter and son-in-law, Doreen M. and Jim Maciak of Beverly; two granddaughters, Sydney C. Maciak and Deirdre A. Maciak, both of Beverly; her twin sister, Carol A. Stentiford of Beverly; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Mary Madore of Woburn; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Larry Madore of Salem.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly on Monday, Dec. 28 at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly (North Beverly location) Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Beverly.
