DALE, Daphne Joan Townsend
1938 – 2017
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Daphne Dale on May 15, 2017. Daughter of the late Alan Dale and Ethel Townsend, Daphne was a dear friend to Liz Tsonos, Sylvie Sills, Ann Neysmith, Linda Chouinard, Eppie Campbell and Patrick McLean whom she considered family. Daphne lived most of her life in the Town of Mount Royal where, in 2010, she received the citizen of the year award for her work in ensuring that municipal buildings were easily accessible for the physically challenged. She also volunteered for many years at the Montreal Convalescent Hospital advocating for and assisting individuals who were learning to deal with their physical limitations. Daphne moved into the Father Dowd Residence in 2002 where she immersed herself in helping residents who could not help themselves. She was a member of the Auxiliary, served on the Board and was a past president of the residents' committee. She will be greatly missed by the Father Dowd community. It was Daphne's wish to be cremated and have her ashes scattered in a special place where she spent time in her childhood. She did not want a memorial service. A special thanks to the staff of the Montreal Chest Hospital of MUHC for their care and compassion. Daphne would have appreciated donations to the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation in her memory. May she rest in peace.
