I am a voice from Darcys' past. After high school we hung out a little & he lived with us in Bowness on the river for a while, in what now seems a brief time in his life. I came to appreciate many things through Darcy, drumming; understanding Jazz; friendship; personal challenges and not to pick a leather suit out of one inch samples. Also, not to lay naked in the sun all day if your fair skinned. Darcy took everything to an extreme. I believe it was to fully be absorbed by all experiences. He always lived life to his choosing. Darcys' laughter; his enthusiasum; the ability of recall (with laughter)his antics and experiences, enriched many during those days. These will remain as the essence of his spirit in My memory. I wish for all your hearts to be soothed in this time of extreme transition. He was & will be missed. Warmly Eve

I remember Darcy as a friendly, outgoing youg man in Grade Nine in Montgomery Jr. High. His gift of music and his sence of humour has placed him in many of my stories of that time. My condolences to Darcy's family and friends on his loss.

I remember Darcy as a person full of energy and comical wit. He enjoyed playing musical instruments with such energy--especially his drums. He also put his energy into playing his harmonica. I wish those who are closest to him all the best in this difficult moment.

Dear Mr. and Mr. Valance and Family
I don't know if you remember the GAEDE family that lived next door to the home that you moved into, in Bowness, all those years ago. I am Mary (Downing) Gaede, and I would like to pass my sympathies and those of my Mother and family, to you, on the passing of Darcy. My family have often wondered about your family, and how all of you are.

You are in our prayers, and should you wish to contact me, my phone number in Calgary is 256 5412. Should you not, I will understand.

Regards

Mary (Gaede) Downing
daughter of Carl and Vera Gaede

To the Vallance Family:
My husband and I are both Montgomery born and raised and went through all our school years with Darcy. Although we haven't seen him in many years, we remember him as an incredibly talented drummer and having a great sense of humor.
Our deepest sympathies to you all.

It is with great sadness that I write this memorial note. Darcy was part of a wonderful and varied group of friends I met during my time at Bowness High - and continued to cultivate my friendships with them afterwards.

At one point, Darcy and I became very good friends, and we chummed around for a good 6 months. In that time I came to know a person with a great sense of humour, a zest for life, personal loyalty, and a cocky swagger only matched by his charm - and his particular fondness for the fairer sex.

Darcy had a particular love of animals - and he seemed at times to be able to communicate with them on their level, especially through play.

Darcy loved music, and was an aspiring rock drummer, something I wish he had pursued with earnest. Darcy had natural musical talent, something most of our group of friends never had.

My life was touched by Darcy. He made me a better and richer person for knowing him.

Rest in peace, Darcy.
