My Dad was the best ever! He was so cool growing up and Christmas was his favorite time of year. He made a plywood cutout of Snoopy laying on his back and put it on our roof as if our house was Snoopys dog house. His best friend and him always gave each other gag gifts for Christmas and the tradition was so well known that everyone couldn't wait to hear what they exchanged. He made us a play house that was half dog house and half play house. He built our garage that looked like a big barn. He built our family room complete with a fireplace. He let us ride on the back of his squeeky old Ford truck as he drove around our culd-e-sac after work. None of the neighbohood kids were allowed to ride with us and none of their dads had a truck like his either! He played in our pool with us. He would con us into doing what he wanted us to do...like keeping up with him while he did his "army walk", or make drawings on his back and he would guess what they were and that way he would get his back scratched. We had a pop-up tent camper and we would camp on the weekends and go for canoe rides. He loved nature and pointed out things to us. He was afraid of snakes. He was full of humor and very clever always playing practical jokes on everyone even our neighbors. One family in particular couldn't leave their house unattended without finding it for sale when they got back or worse.
My parents loved us so deeply and poured heart and soul into us and my brother and I wanted nothing more than to make them proud.
Dad was devistated with rheumatoid arthritis in his hands and wrists when we were about 12-13 years old and he was never the same. As the years went on, he collected more diseases and that is really when we lost our Dad.
Rest in Peace.

As all who knew him knew he was a great person, I have to say that he was also the best father-in-law a girl could have! He was always very supportive of Doug and I. I will miss him deeply. Love you dad, Kathy

One of my most cherished possessions is a cartoon that Dave drew of me when I was in high school standing in a room with my baton lodged in the ceiling looking disgusted (because I was always getting in trouble for twirling in the house!) Whenever I look in my scrapbook, I think if Dave and what a funny, kind hearted, talented man he was and how glad I am that I had the chance to know him. My thoughts and prayers go out to Sue and Dave's children and family. I am sure he was a great light in your life and made you smile!! Know that lots of people smile when they think of Dave.

Sue, my prayers are with you during this sad time. Dave and I go back to the old Jeffers Crane Service days in the early 80's. I worked across the street at Cardox and would see him almost every morning. I never saw him angry. He use to enjoy watching us play cards in the morning and would just love it when I would beat Frank or Rich. He would have to leave to go back in his office so he wouldn't be seen laughing. He was a GOOD man who was always ready to help in any way he could.

I was so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Hope you're doing okay. I wish I could have been in the same room when your dad and Dave got into some of their discussions. I was never lucky enough. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Dave's family.
