Sylvia: I am so sorry. It was a priviledge to know everyone in your family. I have missed both David and you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know what you must be feeling. I lost Chuck three days before David left us. If you want or need to share, please write at [email protected]. My love to all of you. Sarah

Clayton,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. I knew he was an expert on several things, but I didn't realize the extent of his fame and respect as a scholar. Tell your Mom and Kit that I am thinking of them too.

Dear Sylvia and family, I am so sorry for your loss as I read about David's passing this morning. I have fond memories of him in his office while I was trying to vaccume or the stereo blasting in the dining room while he tinkered around the house. His twinkling eyes and great wit will be sorely missed.

Dave was my prof one summer at UMF, filling in for Gwil Roberts. We have kept in contact off and on through the years. He even assisted on my UMF Master's Thesis. A great guy and an even greater teacher. His shoes will be hard to fill. He will be greatly missed.
