David Voneida Obituary
He was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Harry E. and Della P. (Wolfe) Voneida. On Aug. 2, 1942, in Hagerstown, Md., he married the former Lucille J. Hort, who preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2000.
David was a 1940 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
He lived and worked on his family farm in East Buffalo Township, raising both dairy and beef cattle, from 1945 until 1992. After 1992, David moved to Buffalo Township and enjoyed gardening at his home.
He was a member of Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, for 56 years.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, David W. Jr. and Linda S. Voneida of Selinsgrove and Daniel W. Voneida of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie A. and William Borys of Lewisburg; two sisters, Mildred Voneida of Mifflinburg and Betty Young of Northumberland; five grandchildren, Anne L. and her husband Thomas Bodenstine of Birmingham, Ala., Matthew W. Borys of Maui, Hawaii, Todd D. and his wife Jeni Voneida of Selinsgrove, Ryan M. Voneida of Selinsgrove and Andrew D. and his wife Ciara Voneida of Trevorton; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Lilianann Voneida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Guy, Lester, Harold, Robert, Glenn and Irvin, and three sisters, Viola Campbell, Etheline Knapp and Cora Knapp.
Visitors may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 by the Rev. William S. Henderson.
Burial will be in the Orchard Hills Cemetery and Memorial Park, Shamokin Dam.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg, PA 17837, or the American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

It is with deep sorrow and regret that I learned of the passing of your loved one. I know what you guys are going thru, as it has not even been a year that you supported me in the loss of my father. Dave was a good neighbor and friend to Bob and I. I can remember one day he was mowing grass(its been quite awhile since he has moved) and I looked up to see him on his knees,feeling around on the ground like he had lost something. I went up to see if I could help him and he said he had found what he was looking for (one of his hearing aids had come out of his ear when went underneath a tree limb). If you knew Dave that wasn't quite how he said it. We stood there and had a good laugh. We will miss you,your friend and neighbor,Bob/Elaine Young
