Dennis Phelan Obituary
Dennis was born March 11, 1948, in St. Joseph, the son of John Jesse Phelan, Sr. and Mary Francis (McNemee) Phelan.
Mr. Phelan was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star, an Air Medal and an Army Commendation Medal.
Dennis was a retired over the road truck driver.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
His hobbies included restoring and showing cars in competitions, gardening and spending time outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Phelan, Sr.; and sister, Bonnie Cromer.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Phelan, of the home; children, Marcie Hundley, Rushville, Mo.; P. David Phelan, St. Joseph; Deana Jones, Savannah, Mo.; and Gina Uziel, Kansas City, Kan.; brother, John Phelan, Oregon, Mo., and twin brother, David Phelan, Bendena, Kan.; sister, Betty Cromer, St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and his first wife, Phyllis Wilson, St. Joseph.
Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Interment: Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Tuesday, at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

I'm going to miss you, you will always be the LOVE of my life. We shared a lifetime together, the good and the bad. I'm so glad we got past the past and could be friends again. I had the pleasure of meeting Dennis years ago when we worked at Keim. He was a very out going, friendly person who loved to make you laugh. It's been years since I had saw him, but I have fond memories of the good times we all shared back then. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family. May they find peace in knowing he made so many people smile.

We met Dennis 25 years ago when we were all driving for Keim Transportations. Back then everybody was concidered "Family" Dennis was a big cut-up and fun to be around! We later moved to Arkansas and lost contact. Havent had near the laughs since then.
Our condolences go out to the family!! He was a great guy!!

We met Dennis when we visited our St. Joseph family, Don and Linda Yates. My daughter Natalie thought alot of your father with our many trips.
