SELINSGROVE - Donald S. Wert, 76, of 202 Pleasant Drive, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at his home.
He was born Jan 5, 1928, in Lewisburg, the son of the late Rufus L. Jr. and Mary Ellen (Boop) Wert. On Feb. 12, 1949, he married the former Emma Geise, who survives.
Mr. Wert was a 1946 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
The couple farmed throughout their married life and in 1959 moved to a farm in Beaver Township, where they lived until last year, when they moved to Selinsgrove.
Don had also been employed at Bingaman and Son in Kreamer for 15 years.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg.
Mr. Wert was also a member of the West Snyder Young Farmers; the Pennsylvania Farmers Association; and the Beavertown Fire Company.
He enjoyed hunting and the great pride of his life was his grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. and Dean Blakley of Selinsgrove; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth D. and Diana Wert of Enola, Fred L. and Rosetta Wert of Middleburg, and Thomas J. and Joanna Wert of Port Trevorton; 15 grandchildren, Kathleen and her husband Rodney, Kevin and his wife Angie, Sean, Adam, Gregory, Larissa, Jenni, Cara, Joshua, Tabitha, Benjamin, Rachel, Andrew, Elizabeth and Rebekah; one great-grandson, Alex; two brothers, Arthur Wert of Middleburg and John Wert of Manassas, Va.; and one sister, Janet Gotshall of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Wert and one sister, Nancy Willow.
Friends and family may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg, where the funeral will follow at 11 with his pastor, the Rev. James W. Grubb officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.

Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
