Doreen Dureau Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2008.
DUREAU-Doreen On Saturday September 20, 2008, God called Doreen to his kingdom in Heaven to reunite her with her beloved husband John and her precious daughter Debbie. She was also predeceased by her brother Dusty Worden and sister Betty Wyse. Doreen is survived by her loving sons Barry (Donna), Greg (Patty), Darwin, Brent (Janet), son-in-law Gerry Hourd; sisters Marg Munn, Fran Johnson, Jean (Nick) Bashnick and her beloved grandchildren Brian, Leanne (Rueben), Kevin (Tricia), Brad (Amanda), Ryan (Nora), Jayla (Rob), Jody (Scott), Chantelle (Chad), Danielle (Shea) and 15 great grandchildren and numerous extended family & friends. Mom married the love of her life John Dureau and soon God blessed them with a beautiful baby daughter, Debbie, a new sister to Barry. Greg, Darwin and Brent soon followed to make the family complete. Doreen dedicated her life to her family and husband by staying at home with the children during the early years and later a partner in her husband's business, Johnnies Electric. Nan was blessed with nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren which made her life complete and she was an inspiration and role model to them all. Mom spent many hours volunteering for the CWL, Santa Maria nursing home and when Dad passed away in 1992, she became passionate about her work on the Veterans Ward at the Wascana Rehab Center. When she became ill and was unable to volunteer the one thing she missed the most was "her boys" and fellow volunteers and staff at the Wascana. Mom was a remarkable woman, a kind and gentle soul and a breath of fresh air. She has touched so many lives in so many ways. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all that knew her. A special thank you to all of the dedicated staff at the Pasqua Hospital Palliative care ward and to Father Ken Koep whose presence and prayers consoled Mom during her final days. In keeping with Mom's request no funeral service will be held. Prayers for the family and close friends will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, on Thursday, September 25th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held immediately after. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Action Saskatchewan 2318 Assiniboine Ave E Regina, Saskatchewan.

Greg (& Pat) and the Dureau family - I just recently heard of your mother's passing. Though I only met her a few times I will always remember what a beautiful, classy and warm lady she was. Her family is her legacy and one that she could be proud of. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear cousins, today I have just learned of the passing of your dear mother. I am so sorry for your loss. A special prayer will be said for your mother, tonight. She is now holding hands with her Johnny, and baby girl.
How does one express how Doreen has touched so many lives over the years? Her beautiful smile and laughing eyes, will never be forgotten.

Hi Dureau and extended family. Your mother was a fantastic lady and I can only wish I live the life that she did. She was exciting, humorous, vivacious and always positive. We had many visits after Debbie's passing. We even had a few glasses of wine down in Houston's. We used to talk at least every 2 weeks with out fail. She loved our home show which is how I met her and obviously because Debbie was our project manager. I will try and make it to prayers tomorrow and say hello.
Take care you in my thoughts.

Our deepest sympathy to all the Dureau family. Our memories of Johnny & Doreen are when they came over to visit my grandparents Lucien & Cecilia Dureau in Wolseley.

"Auntie Dodie" is fondly remembered as our friend and neighbor at the lake. I have great memories growing up with the Dureau kids and the rest of the group of neighbors, spending many weekends and summers at Pasqua Lake together. Auntie Dodie always had a hug and word of advice for me. She was so good to mom when she was sick demonstrating her unfailing devotion and friendship to her and to everyone else she knew. She will be sadly missed and very fondly remembered. Our sympathies and condolences to all the Dureau family.

I was Doreen's neighbour on Hill Avenue for the past three years. I called her our bodyguard, because she always had a look out for all of us! Hill Avenue to her was more than just a street she lived on! She could always be spotted walking by the front of the store, rain or shine, snow or sleet with her high heals and perfectly manicured hair!!! and often popping in just to make sure business was going okay. Sorry Doreen, I never got over to your new place for that "drink"!!! RIP Pretty Lady....

"Mrs. Dureau" was the Grand Dame of them all. Amidst all this sadness, is the satisfaction of knowing she is now in the loving arms of her Johnnie and Debbie...two loves lost that she never accepted. Mrs. Dureau leaves a HUGE legacy of love and knowledge that will live on, 'within' her children, grandkids and great grandkids. She will forever be in their, and our, hearts. Our deepest sympathy to Greg (Pat), Brent (Jan), Darwin, Gerry (Halina), Jayla (Rob), Jody (Scott) and all the grand and great-grand children. This classy lady, and all that she has taught us over the years, will remain with us forever!!! She was an amazing woman who touched so many, and by doing so, has made each of us, a better person! Take care...time will heal... the pain will be replaced by so many wonderful memories of "Nan" and all her wisdom.

Doreen will be missed for her always bright smile and attitude. We have been graced by her visits to our office over the years and have had great visits socially at her suite on Hill ave. One of the most caring people I know and always glamourously dressed and a person you always enjoyed. God bless to all the family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. We did not know Nan personally, but what we do know is what a wonderful and caring family that she raised. To us, that is an indication of the woman that she was and it would have been an honour to meet her.
