Dorothy Vaughan Obituary
AGE: 99 • Wilmington, Del.
Dorothy L. Vaughan (Mom, Mom-Mom and Great Mom-Mom), of Wilmington, at the young age of 99, left us peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2015 surrounded by her family in St. Francis Hospital.
Dottie graduated from St. James High School in Penns Grove, NJ and from the nursing program at St. Joseph's Hospital in West Chester, PA. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in the Maternity Ward and became a homemaker after her daughter was born.
Dottie was a dedicated parishioner of St. Helena's Church and was active in the Altar Society and Young At Heart. She also loved working the church carnival and Christmas bazaar. Dottie also volunteered at Delaware Hospice.
Dottie was predeceased by the love of her life, James L. Vaughan in 2001. She is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn Trickey and her husband John, grandchildren; John E. Trickey, Jr.(Jennifer), James M. Trickey (Julie) JoAnna M. Trickey and Jessica E. Trickey, and 6 wonderful great-grandchildren; Cody, Kylie, Kendal, Jackson, Taylor and Craig.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Helena's Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. A viewing will be held at the church prior to mass from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Newark, DE 19711 or to St. Helena's Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809.
