EMBLETON, Dr. Eileen Loraine

(nee Blackall) —

On Friday, May 20, 2016 at Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill, from the effects of Parkinson's Disease. Born in Aldershot, England, May 16, 1928, she earned a PhD in chemistry in 1952 from University College London. The following year she was a Fulbright Post-doctoral Fellow at Cornell University, then moved to Ottawa in 1953, working first at the National Research Council of Canada and then at the University of Ottawa and retired to Nobleton in 1990. Wife of Dr. Tony Embleton for 62 years, mother of Dr. Sheila Embleton (Dr. Wolfgang Ahrens) and grandmother of Anne Ahrens-Embleton. Predeceased by her parents Frederick Blackall and Esther (Conroy) (Blackall) Moore, step-father John Moore, older brother Ron (late Rose) and younger sister Sheila (Alfred Prince). Survived by her younger brother Patrick (Maureen), as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins in England, Australia and Switzerland. Visitation Friday, May 27th, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.; funeral Saturday, May 28th, at 1:30 p.m., at R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street, Toronto.
