Edith M. Coiner

Edith Miller Coiner, 97, died on Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Cottage, at the Stuarts Draft Christian Home.

She was born on June 27, 1912, in Augusta County, a daughter of Noah and Jane Eleanor Strough Coiner.

She was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church. For over 25 years, she was a bookkeeper at First and Merchants Bank. She was also an assistant kindergarten teacher at the Bethany Lutheran Church. Edith was interested in animal welfare and loved cat and dogs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Susan Coyner, on March 7, 2008.

Surviving are one brother, Norris Coiner of Phoenix, Arizona; one niece, Priscilla L. Herrier of Tuscon, Arizona; and three cousins, Bonnie Kiblinger and Rosa Lee Billigmeier of Waynesboro, and Llewellyn Strough Allison of Onancock.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Bethany Lutheran Church by Pastor Tim Bohlmann. Interment will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April, 29, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful caring and skilled staff of the Cottage at the Stuarts Draft Christian Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Bethany Lutheran School, 100 Maple Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980 or to Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Dr., Fishervillle, VA 22939.
