Edmund N. Russell

RUSSELL - Edmund N. of Wyckoff, died Monday, August 14, 2006. Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 10, 1917 and has lived in Wyckoff for the past 35 years. He enlisted in the United States Navel Service in 1942. He saw action in the Pacific Theater, as a Naval Aviator and Navigator and was responsible for shooting down at least two ships and five possible; he received the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, the American Theatre, Asiatic-Pacific 7 Stars, Navel Unit Commendation and the Philippine Liberation 2 Stars. Ed retired from Burns and Rowe, Oradell in 1983. Previously he was in Configuration and Data Management in Bendix, Teterboro, NJ. Ed was a Life Member of the, Midland Park-Wyckoff Post 7086. In 2002, he was the Grand Marshall in the Wyckoff Memorial Day Parade. He was also a member of the Wyckoff Senior's Club. Beloved husband of Betty (Higgins). Loving father of Valerie Tornick Heilweil of Middletown, NJ. Grandfather of Scott, Ryan and Olivia. Brother of Robert Russell of Lake Worth, FL. Predeceased by his beloved son Scott and his sister Violet Di Tomasso. The family will receive their friends on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff NJ 07481. Interment, Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver CO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 214, Wyckoff, NJ.
