Edward Avery Wyatt
June 10, 1972 - November 24, 2022
Raleigh, North Carolina - Born in Washington, North Carolina on June 10, 1972 to Regina Stec Wyatt and Edward Avery Wyatt. He was a graduate of Fairfax High School, Fairfax, Virginia; James Madison University where he was a founding father of the school's chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha; University of South Carolina (MBA) and Wake Forest School of Law where he was editor-in-chief of the Law Review. He began his law career as a clerk in the North Carolina Business Court, following which he worked in firms in Atlanta, Raleigh and District of Columbia. He was named a "Rising Star"in Washington, DC by Super Lawyers. After the birth of his son, he left the practice of law to be a stay at home dad for two years. This was one of the happiest periods of his life. He eventually began his own law firm in Raleigh specializing in corporate law.
He was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia, and the Rotary Club of the Capital City. He was also an avid ACC football and basketball fan and a loyal follower of his Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He was especially proud of his North Carolina roots.
Edward was a loyal and loving son and brother. He gave generously of his time and resources to help others. His friends described him as a true gentleman and leader. He treated others with respect and throughout his illness was always gracious and never failed to thank the health care workers caring for him.
Edward was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his beloved golden retriever, Hank. In addition to his wife, Kate and son, Beau, he is survived by his parents, Regina and Edward of Chapel Hill; his brothers, Stephen of Mount Pleasant, SC and Kent (Kirsten) of West Linn, Oregon; nieces, Eleanor and Josephine; nephew, Gus; aunts, uncles, and cousins. His passing leaves a hole in the Wyatt family that can never be filled.
Edward calmly and valiantly battled the ups and downs of his glioblastoma diagnosis for eleven months. He passed away on Thanksgiving. A memorial service was held on December 2 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Raleigh. A celebration of his life was held that evening.
