Eileen Jewel Wade

EDMOND, Okla. — Eileen Jewel Wade, age 93, passed on to glory at 12:20 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Grace Living Center, Edmond. She was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Joplin, Mo. Her parents were Charles O. and Florence Eva (Degginger) Johnson. She had lived at Edmond since 2001, after living 10 years in Phoenix, Ariz. She lived most of her life in Galena, Kan. She retired in 1991, after working 10 years with the Garrett Corporation, Phoenix. She had worked at Meeker Leather Co., Joplin, for 25 years. She was a member of the Waterloo Road Baptist Church, Edmond, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School class. Eileen was married to Roy Jr. Wade on Oct. 12, 1935, in Galena. He passed away June, 1975. Surviving is her daughter, Shelva Jean (husband, Ken) Sleeper, Edmond; one brother, Wayne Johnson, Galena; two sisters, Louise Crampton, Warren, Texas, and Dorothy Durham, Joplin; two grandchildren, Nancy Lynn Merrill and Susan Van Rossum, both of Little Rock, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Hank Jr. and Wade Van Rossum; and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Wade in January, 2000. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at First Baptist Church, Galena. Dennis Napier and Elder Ernie Watson will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin. Pallbearers will be Dewey J. Chambers, Dewey W. Chambers, David Chambers, Jack Chambers, Jared Chambers and Craig Merrill. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.
