Ernest Charles "Bill" MoodyFuneral services for Ernest Charles "Bill" Moody, 83, of Hanceville, will be Friday, July 31, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Irvin officiating. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Hanceville. Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Mr. Moody died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at his residence.He was born in Hanceville on September 1, 1925 to Charles Monroe Moody and Laura Elizabeth Edwards Moody.  Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ellis and Sam Moody and three sisters, Bertha Reid, Olma Gammon and Ruby Gamble.Mr. Moody was a member of the US Navy and served during WWII. He worked  42 years for Earl Dudley and Associates. He was a past president of the Alabama Walking Horse Association and Horseshow Chairman for Alabama Jubilee and Alabama Futurity. He owned Hidden Valley Stables for 40 years and  received the trophy for Horse Person of the year for several years. The trophy was later renamed the E.C. Moody Horse Person of the year in honor of Mr. Moody. He was a member of Union Hill Church of Christ for more than 60 years.He is survived by his wife, Alice  Moody; one daughter, Laura Moody; two grandsons, Charlie Estep and Andy Cottingham, all of Hanceville; two sisters, Eula Tisdale and Gracie Moody of Alexandria, Va. and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.Pallbearers will be Dr. Bruce Lee, Gerald Campbell, Woody Spinks, Coach Lane Horton, Jamey Hammock and Keith Bradford. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Doss, Robert Hurley, Jimmie Hicks, Dick Peebles, Steve Clark, Nathan Clark, Nancy Hawkins and Brenda May.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Camp Smile A Mile at P.O. Box 550155; Birmingham, Ala. 35255. The family wants to give a special thank you to Dr. Greg Meiman and the staff of Omega Hospice for the outstanding care and support they received.Visitation will be Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 5:30 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
