Estelle DeVere

Estelle Rosemarie (Saunders) DeVere passed away at Atria Assisted Living, in Longmont, on February 2, 2017,after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 92 years old. Estelle was born on October 17, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA. When she was 12 years old, she met Carl M. DeVere "Bud". They fell in love at first sight. When Bud and Estelle grew up, they did get married when he was 20 and she was 19. Bud was a Marine who had just returned from two years of service in Guadalcanal Island in the South Pacific, in World War II. They were married in an Episcopal Chruch in Laredo, TX, on April 8, 1944. Estelle was a loving mother to their four children. She began a career in 1965 as an Executive of the Woodward & Lothrop Dept. Store as a Personnel Manager. She retired in 1972. As a Marine, Bud was transferred many times during his service. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1968 and the family settled down in Alexandria, VA, where they lived for many years. Bud and Estelle moved to Longmont, in 2004 to be near their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Estelle is survived by her husband, Bud; her sons, Carl "Buz", Craig and Mark; her daughter, Dani; and her daughters-in-law, Cynthia "Tinny" and Marie. Estelle was a loving and active grandmother to Jeremy, Shad, Summer, Satchel, and Olivia. She was a proud great- grandmother to Glory, Galilea, and Brennan. Estelle was her happiest when watching her musical family sing, dance, and play music at home around the piano. Funeral services will be held at Crist Mountain View Mortuary on Friday, February 10, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, we ask that friends send donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
