Eugene Stieb Obituary
He was born October 3, 1947, in Sidney, Nebraska. Shortly after graduating from St. Patrick's High School there in 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and retired as a master sergeant in 1988. He also retired from a second career as a medical transcriptionist. During his Air Force career he had been stationed at Abilene (Dyess AFB) and he had lived there since retiring from the Air Force.
He married Chong Mi Haeng 'Tina' Stieb at Osan, Korea on September 2, 1969; she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Maj.(ret) Kim Holl and husband Don of Shiloh, Illinois; and one grandson Jacob Holl of LSU-Baton Rouge. Mr. Stieb also is survived by four sisters and brothers-in-law; Linda (Bob) Norrid, Patricia (Rick) Hawley, Suzanne (Michael) Hawkins, and Pamela (Robert) Bell, all of New Boston, and three brothers and sisters-in-law; Richard M. Stieb of Grapevine, Randy L. Stieb (Sukcha) of Syracuse, Utah, and Scott A. Stieb(Lisa) of Senoia, Georgia; several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Mary M. Stieb, who moved to New Boston from Sidney in 1966 due to the pending closure of Sioux Army Depot. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Tuesday January 17, 2017 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South under the direction of Pastor IL Gwon Ji of the Abilene Korean Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home.

I am so heart broken to hear my dear friend Gene has passed away. He was a true friend and my air force brother. My sincere condolence to Tina and family. I will miss my talks with Gene. RIP my dear friend.

I helped take care of "Tina" and "Gene" for many years. We Were neighbors at the time and i got very close and attached to them both. Gene was a very good hearted man and always looked out for his wife "tina". We Will miss him. We would like to give our condolences to all the family.

I worked with Eugene in Health Information at Abilene Regional. I enjoyed talking to Eugene so much, he was bright and witty, a pleasure to be around. I am only sorry I didn't get up to see him.
