Fred Alton Lynn, 73, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at his home.
He was born Dec. 1, 1940, in Lancaster, a son of the late John Alton Lynn and Gladys Mae Hinson Lynn.
Mr. Lynn was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and choir member. He was retired from Springs Industries as a machinist after 44 years of service. Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a strong Christian who lived his life serving the Lord.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Lynn is 3 p.m. today, July 25, at the chapel of Lancaster Funeral Home, with the Revs. Tony Clark, Steve Anglin, Mike Hammond and Donald Tillman officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Lynn is survived by his wife, Sybil Anne Adams Lynn; two daughters, Ronda Lynn Carnes and her husband, Dave, of Lancaster, and Kathy Lynn Hurley of Rock Hill; a brother, Joe Hinson Lynn and his wife, Barbara, of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Shelly Stroud, Patrick Carnes, Kathryne Hurley and William Hurley; and two great-grandchildren, Chase Stroud and Tray Stroud.
A special thank you from the Lynn family goes to Dr. Keith Shealy of Hospice of Lancaster; Fred's special nurse, Michelle Clark, RN; his CNA, Karen Barnes; and all others at Hospice of Lancaster.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2830 Great Falls Highway.
